as for the pro-ammy argument i really dont care. like i said before i think terry (or paea for that matter) will drop ur boy whether hes a pro or not (not saying he is)..you keep bringing it up not me..
i can't speak for paea (i dont know him personally)but if his past losses are any indication of his current spirit he will only comes back stronger! I would suspect that after his quick and disappointing loss to berger, a loss in which he sustained zero damage, he is hungry to step up for another rematch..
speaking with a few of my colleagues we think edwards v. paongo is a heavyweights dream match! I personally cannot think of a better stage to build hype for berger v. edwards or a berger v. paongo rematch! (make it happen jay!)
IMHO edwards v. paongo would be a more exciting fight than either paea/eric v. berger. berger will probably sub either of them in the first minute leading to an anticlimatic main event..
u obviously have strong ties with edwards, what does he think?

Don't know...didn't say nothing in these threads about strong ties with Edwards (go back and check). Why don't you ask him yourself? Nothing like going straight to the source to get the right answer. He's a pretty nice guy and might just give you the answer you're looking for
Didn't want to go here, but IMHO Edwards would sleep Taanoa or are you crossing the street to Paongo now? Why don't you get off their nuts and let the boys you are naming and trying to match up with Edwards speak for themselves?

Edwards fighting Paea will prove nothing IMO. Paea just came off a loss, I say let the boy recoup and get back into positive focus. And if you are a fighter, you know exactly what i mean...
First of all you are wrong about Paea Paongo OR Taanoa. They are try their best and it dont matter who win or lost.. But Paea is favor sport fight it way better then street fight. You guys dont know who is Paea Paongo n he is true friendly guy and he put his tag ISLAND BOYS for everyone like tonga, samoa, hawaii all island of Hawaii. He is dream become MMA Fighter n going to Mainland fight to show the people that he come from hawaii ALOHAAAAA... So tat reason why he join it to make his dream come true. Lost or win dont matter to him. We all proud of him...
Paea Paongo good lucky and no matter what lost or win you know it just SPORT N It not street gang fight...

im just stating what i think would be good matchups, is that such a bad thing? i like paongo, taanoa, edwards and berger..hell if it was up to me i would say four man tournament winner take all! that would definitely be exciting!
and as for my identity it will not change the questions that have been asked or the responses that they evoke. u are just diverting attention from the subject at hand.
wasnt it u and speak da truth who already went over the joys of a nameless, faceless, public forum? (is that not why ur name is brassknuckles and mine upandcoming?)

Diversion is not even the basis or objective in any of my replies. Not like what I've read from page 1. But funny you would say that Hmmmm, why would someone who posts on mmahawaii and voice opinions on the skills and possible match-ups have the name 'brassknuckles'?? Good question
I call flip flop on this latest................

I agree with what you said 100%. I just can't understand why some people here want to see him back in a match so soon after his loss. He should just work on his game more and tie up the loops so that he comes out a stronger and more skillful competitor.
And when it comes to island fighters all 3 that are being named have island roots...Taanoa and Edwards are samoan and yes, Paea is Tongan...and I believe that really has no merit in this game other than the fact that it is of their ethnic origin.

there was no flip flop, everyone in the thread said they didnt think terry was ready.
I quote directly
8 ball "if u guys match him up with Tanoa he will just be 2 easy of a match.Tanoa has been dropped in all of his matchups but what do u think Edwards will do 2 him being a deadly striker"
mmabiz"Ive watched Terrence fight, no disrepect intended at all, but I dont think hes ready to step up to be a champion, he has some more training to do, then maybe he will be able to compete against some of the best."
fightdream"your chin is actually kinda soft for a poly.and do you really feel like your performances were championship caliber outings???you can pull my leg,but don't yank dat fawka off.train hard cuz I want u to show us what ur about.if you do fight edwards, please last longer than ur stroll to the cage, and let me kno how many lightbulbs are on the ceiling that night.lmao...."
and even u urself brassknuckles"Taanoa a good match up? I don't think so...too easy with a Gumby chin."
ive already stated how i feel about taanoa..heck, i was probably one of the loudest ones in attendance when he banged out de soja at fast n furious..you guys always talking about what mma fans want to see, obviously you dont want to see terry v edwards. so i suggested edwards v. paongo. how is that a flip flop?
now if i were to suggest edwards v. lindsey would this be a reverse flip flop anonymous? am i allowed to do this brassknuckles? or are u gonna expose me and call me out because of my opinions?

Good Job Henry, but I wanted to just offer my opinion on this subject. Eric Edwards should be considered one of Hawaii's top heavyweights. Terrence Taanoa is not 3-1 unless he fought as a PRO against Paea Paongo. Where he actually got TKO'd. Ive watched Terrence fight, no disrepect intended at all, but I dont think hes ready to step up to be a champion, he has some more training to do, then maybe he will be able to compete against some of the best. He is 2-2, not 3-1 just to clear the air on this.
Another opinion, why should Paea Paongo fight Eric Edwards? what is this going to do for him? He just lost the title shot, you guys dont really think hes even close to contention again do you. Hes a banger, thats for sure, but he just couldnt pull off the W. Even if he beats Eric, doesnt mean hes ready for the title shot again.
So heres what I think should happen. Eric Edwards should fight Terrance Taanoa just to see who is in contention for the belt.
Now for the PRO or AMMY, on July 1, 2009 Hawaii tried to regulate pro fighters by requiring them to register as a professional fighter. According to Hawaii law, you are not considered a professional fighter unless you are registered. Real simple explanation.
So heres the Million Dollar Question. Can anyone prove that Sale Sproat, (Destiny's AMMY Champion) who is listed on SHERDOG with a record of 1-0 received compensation from any of his fights. Or for this matter, Eric Edwards received compensation for his 2 fights listed on SHERDOG? Or can anyone prove that the promoter paid these fighters?
Probably not. Its not even worth the arguments that everyone is making. If he says he amateur, we just have to beleive it until he is a registered professional like, for instance Brandon Visher.
MMABIZ- Thank you for the simple clarification on this pro/ammy issue. A lot of people are confused about this issue and just the word "pro" has conjured up differing interpretations. Like I said earlier, Sherdog is not the most accurate website to seek info.
I agree with you 100% that Eric Edwards should be considered one of Hawaii's top heavyweights. And I'm sure this discussion thread has lit the fire that will produce a volatile explosion when he gets into the ring/cage in the future. And when that happens, I'll make sure to be sitting up front and center enjoying the destruction! This message goes out to all of my supporters and freinds and fam that are always on our side.Thank u all for attending the Legacy combat event.I want to Thank my lord and savior JESUS CHRIST and give all the glory to GOd all the way 100% I want to thank my MoM and DaD for being there for me and always motivating me to be the best fighter that the lord allows me to be.Also big thank u to all my friends and family and students that helped to support and make it to fight.
