Chis Leben a 'local fighter'? 2 Months ago Karma: -1
Chris been fighting out of HI for a while now. He say he reps HI and he trains with local guys and his coach is Burton Richardson who was with Egan for long time. Leben seem like he really like it here.

Curious what you guyz think, do you think of him as a 'local fighter' or just another haole who living here for now?

My opinion isn't really relevant in this discussion, but I would say that he contributes to the local scene. He has been here for a long time and doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. I would consider him a local fighter. But as you previously described, I am just another Haole who lives here now.

interesting question coz - Mayhem fought here and grew a large following - folks hated and loved him - Leben is a little different, he's been saying in interviews that he's trying to represent the 808. Who trains at his school? regardless, that was a slick submission win for him! congrats

1st of all that was a stupid question.2nd I'm not defending anyone here. My question to the topic is "Does it really matter?" He's running a business here and its his home base and it doesn't look like he's going move off island soon.If he wants to rep Hawaii, good for him and good for our islands. the same for any other fighter who does.Be proud because it puts Hawaii on the map.Don't you think there are better things to discuss here on mma hawaii?

Well I talk to Chris on a few occasions and he is more local then the local boys them selves. It comes from the heart. I know some guys who was born in Hawaii and they rep mainland states. Honestly what does local mean.? It came from the old days when surfing was blowing
up. Which meant Hawaiians was the locals. Then mix nationalitys became locals because of there siblings born and raise in the state. So I believe and consider chris a fighter from Hawaii. Same goes for Sensai Relson Gracie, Master Haru , master Cam and many more that reps Hawaii. Just my opinion. DC

This site is MMAHawaii.com. This thread is in Hawaii MMA Discussions of MMAHawaii.com. Leben is an MMA fighter who live in HAWAII.

So this is a PERFECT PLACE TO DISCUSS THIS. Why don't you go take you wahhhhh wahhhhh crying somewhere else? Don't post on this thread if it make your vagina all sandy.

All I asking is what the local fans think about him. In your mind is he repping us locals or is he just a tourist? Me, I think the guy is honest about what he say and I like him. He not the best MW but he exciting and he seem to love Hawaii and Hawaii fans. I got no problem if we hanai Leben and make him a Hawaii fighter. But I wonder what everyone else thinks. if they agree with me or think different. Is a fair question.

U r dumber than I thought DC. Local has nothing to do with being from Hawaii or surfing you dumbass. Local is where you reside ie. If you from la your local to California or if you from Anchorage your a local of Alaska. Don't make up shit you have no clue about.
