In Manaus, Brazil there is a competition that is taking place that few in Hawaii may be aware of. The Vale Tudo Championships are taking place this weekend on March 6th and the fight card pits America against Brazil in a stacked card of amazing bouts. This event should warrant more attention here in Hawaii because of the staggering number of Hawaii fighters participating.

The American team features such familiar names as Kala Alexander, Dylan Clay, Dominic Ahnee and Nissen Osterneck. They will be joined by two fighters from my home state of South Carolina in Steven Banks and Tomar Washington. This card will feature some of the best full contact fighting that the world has seen. In the heart of the Amazon where MMA was born.

The US team will be coached by Maurice Travis who is a Superbrawl Champion and well known around the world as a Muay Thai phenomenon . His world renowned skill has been recently focused towards training Maui Fighter Nissen Osterneck. The America team is stacked from top to bottom, with a majority of those fighters coming from right here in our home state. Only proving that the level of competition here is on the highest of levels.

To our local fighters this is not child's play. The seriousness of the situation is apparent in the quality and reputation of their opponents. Most of Team Brazil has been training their entire life. As previously stated, they are from the birthplace of mixed martial arts. Coming into their hometown and taking them all out will be no easy task for the boys of Hawaii and Team America but this reporter has seen what we are capable of and feels this one is all but won already.

When asked about the competition, Nissen Osterneck said: " This place is always packed. The last time I fought there is was at the capacity of over 7500 people. It is like nothing else. This is where boys go to become men. They aren't just feeding us cans. These opponents are serious."

Another local fighter and first timer in Brazil, Dominic Ahnee, said : " I am really stoked about being able to represent Hawaii in the birthplace of the sport. Everybody there is game. I heard that my opponent is pretty animal. He has been a black belt since he was around 10 years old or something. I am known for my ground here in Hawaii but I think this will be the best time to showcase my standup. I can't wait to be the spoiler for the hometown and knock this guy out. I want to turn some heads and bring the glory back here to the US and to Hawaii."
