Tasi “The Tyrant” Edwards has been making his way up the food chain here in Hawaii for a long time now. On Saturday Feb. 5th at Immortal MMA: Atomic Aftermath - Schofiled Barracks, Tasi will have his biggest shot yet, as he will be facing Jason Guida for the Championship Gold. This is a fight that means more to Edwards than many other fights. He is fighting to keep the belt on a local fighter/s waist.
“ I’m not going to let him come to Hawaii and take the belt. I know he is used to traveling and fighting the hometown guys, but I plan on exposing the gentleman.”
"I'm the Tyrant. I go to castles and snatch crowns, this guy won't come to the tropics and take a crown i got my eyes on. This one is not only to keep it in Hawaii, but also the home of the gladiators, waianae. Like Bob Marley said, Get up-Stand Up."
His preparation for this fight has been of a specific nature. The utilization of bigger and heavier sparring partners, as well as the enrollment of pure wrestlers. He has taken up cross training with Chris Leben at UFS and also with Haru at HMC but as always, the anchor of his trainning is his brother Eric and Jr. The dynamics of Jason Guida are worthy of full dedication and “The Tyrant” is sparing no resource in his quest for victory.
“ Every fighter has mistakes, but we feel like he has a lot of bad habits. I just have to take advantage of the openings. There are a lot of ways this fight could go but we aren’t stupid. We are preparing for any possible situation. A lot of people are wondering if I can fight off of my back but who knows, I may just double leg him and put him on his back.”
The respect that Tasi has for his opponent runs deep, as he knows that a veteran such as Guida can pose problems. But Edwards still manages to be unwavering in his confidence and belief that he ahs the tools to complete the task of defeating Guida.
“I just want to get the best Jason Guida there is. This is a fight that means a lot to me and I am not looking past him. I just want to show the Hawaii fans that I am on the grind and I want to get their respect.”
With the fight on the horizon, the energy in Hawaii must be on a new plateau. Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of Hawaii’s best take on a fighter from afar, to win the title in his homeland. This fight has epic written all over it. Be there Saturday Feb. 5th at Immortal MMA: Atomic Aftermath - Schofiled Barracks to witness it unfold.
