God’s Army is gym that has been spoken and recognized more frequently since it came to be on March 14, 2008. After a former team parted ways, Colin Mackenzie, Jon Barnard, Max Holloway, Ben Santiago formed their own team and voted for the name “God’s Army”. Their devotion to God as well as doing what they love has triggered a dramatic effect among their ranks. They have grown in numbers and solidified themselves as a legitimate competitor in the Hawaii MMA circuit. With multiple former title holders, and current X1 155 lb. Champion Max Holloway on board, this team’s stock is rising fast. They may not have the state of the art facilities, but Colin Mackenzie ensures that “ It’s all about how you train” that makes the difference, not the equipment.

According to Mackenzie, “ the goal is to break that stereotype. We want to be the role models for kids from out area to prove that they can do something good. To prove that they can do what they put their minds to as long as they work hard for it.” He sees the group as a “band of brothers” who help one another through training and life alike. The team uses a realistic approach to the way they train. When it’s time to work, they work harder each time. And when t is time for a break they never fail to involve as much humor as they can. “When you walk into our place, guaranteed you will smile and have a good time. No matter if you had a bad day, you can come here and just have fun and find the right path” , said Mackenzie.
