Ben Rodrigues is one half of fireworks show that will be the Main Event of Toughman Hawaii at Hilo Civic on August 27th. Jay Carter and Ben Rodrigues will square off in what may prove to be an action packed bout full of furious kickboxing action.

Rodrigues knows very little about his opponent, but feels that this will be his toughest test yet. He knows that Carter has faced some tough opponents and handled himself well, so the gameplan for Rodriques is just to go in and enjoy himself.

" If I go into this fight thinking of it as just a fight, I will feel more pressure. I am just going to go into it viewing it as something that I love to do and know that I only have to impress my family and myself. As long as I am enjoying myself, I can't lose. Hand raised or not, if you enjoy what you do. . . you win."

Both fighters have been away from the sport for a period of time. Rodrigues views the similarities as an advantage. A link between the two mentally. He feels that they have the same goals and knows that it will make for a more interesting fight.

"We have the same head on our shoulders. We both put our family first and took a break to handle our own things. We are both coming back because this is what we love to do."

Ben is content with his life win or lose, because he truly believes that if you are doing what you love to do, there is no way you can lose. He is also happy with the place in his life that fighting has taken. He has worked and learned a trade to support himself an his family, yet still fights for the love of the sport and the feeling of competition. A true warrior.
