The much awaited rematch between Tasi Edwards and Adam Akau is finally upon us. When these two warriors first met, it ended with Tasi's hand raised, but Akau is completely focused on avenging the loss. Each fighter has been attacking their training camp with even more intensity due to the fact that the rematch holds so much meaning.
For Adam Akau, this rematch is a second chance. This is the main fight that he has wanted ever since the first meeting." I feel good coming into this fight. I have wanted the rematch for over a year now and I'm not nervous like last time. I know what to expect. There is a belt on the line, it's on Oahu. There is so much more to gain this time."
For Tasi, it's a chance to prove that he has evolved as a fighter. He feels that he was able to outpoint Akau in the first fight, and that his evolution as a fighter will aid him in doing the same in the rematch. " This camp at Waianae Boxing has been great. When it comes to the rematch, I get a little more intense. This is good for my growth as a fighter. Adam was one of my toughest fights to date. We know what he is going to try to do so I see us having a good fight and putting on a show for everybody."
In the way that they train, and the way they discuss the upcoming bout, it is obvious that the two have no need for a feeling out round. They both plan on getting the job done for the fans.
Adam Akau- " When I was on the mainland with the Army, getting this fight was all I thought about. Every morning when I was running, this rematch was in my mind. I'm ready."
Tasi Edwards- " Adam is a great guy, in and out of the cage. But we are like the electric company coming for last months bill. . . I'm coming to put the lights out."
See these two local fighters put it all on the line this friday night at Aloha Tower as 808 Battleground presents- Unstoppable.
