 David Butler is an extraordinary man. Just being in his presence leaves almost all with a feeling of inspiration. His leadership ability and knowledge come from many different aspects of life and many fulfilling experiences, and he is not afraid to share them with the people he comes into contact with.
We met up with David at a Judo practice with the well known, Leeward Judo Club, headed by Kevin Asano, Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame member, Olympic Silver medalist, and author of "Step onto the Mat".
David is a Senior Vice President with Mesa Air Group, Inc., a parent company of GO! Mokulele Airlines here in Hawaii. He has been on a journey in his professional career that is literally almost unmatched. From his college days at California State University, to his time with companies such as Hewlett Packard, Merck Pharmaceuticals, and Kaiser Hospitals, Butler has been a sponge absorbing all of the knowledge he could in order to apply it in other areas of his life. But what most wouldn't know based on his professional life, is that he is not only a huge supporter of MMA, he is a practicing Judoka, knows Jiu-Jitsu, and was a wrestling coach for a college in New Hampshire.
He has all of the tools and knowledge of a world class fighter, and he shares it with those around him. David Butler is a truly intriguing man, so intriguing , in fact, that we decided to include him in an upcoming issue of MMA Hawaii Magazine. Be sure to read more about this man and his journeys from a 17 year old kid who had interest in Judo, to a Bronze medalist in the World Masters Judo Championships, to his involvement with the youth and shaping the next generation of martial artists, professionals, and positive members of society.
