The Pro Elite 3 open workouts were today at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. Among those participating were Hitomi Akano, who will be fighting Sara McMann, Ikuhisa Minowa, and Hawaii's own Kendall Grove.
The energy was flowing after Akano demonstrated her hands and her deadly submission game on her training partner, and fellow female fighter, Megumi Fujii. Akano looks ready for action and happy to be in Hawaii.
Immediately after Akano was off of the stage, "Minowaman" made his appearance in trademark red speedo and knee pads. After brief words with Pro Elite's TJay Thompson, Minowa began to demonstrate his grappling abilities with his training partner. As the two men inched closer and closer to the end of the stage, the crowd and cameras were shocked by what followed. Minowaman and partner began to play out what looked like a scene of pro wrestling. Everything from fake punches to slamming heads into trees. But the scuffle inevitably ended up next to the pool. And you can pretty much fill in the blanks from there. The two men went splashing into the water, much to the delight of all in attendance.
Following the bizarre display by his opponent, Kendall Grove made his way to the stage. He spoke to TJay about his mentality and about how he is in full fight mode now. It was then that Grove began to shadow box for the onlookers. His use of knees and elbows drew much attention from Minowa, who was watching closely from a distance.
With the stage set, it is clear that this fight is not to miss.
