Hawaii Fighters Dominate Anderson SIlva's Hit Squad E-mail
Local MMA News

By: King Eddie

IMG_1380If you believed the hyped, then many thought Anderson Silva was bringing a hit squad here to Hawaii to clean house. The three members of Blackhouse Gym in Brazil, landed in Hawaii thinking this would be smooth sailing. They couldn't have been more wrong.

Throughout the entire fight card on saturday night, many members of the crowd could be seen looking around, wondering where UFC Champ, Anderson Silva, was. After all, he was said to be in attendance. When he finally emerged from the locker rooms with his first fighter, Paulo Silva, the crowd was going nuts.            IMG_1367

Many people were more focused on the fact that Anderson Silva was there and less focused on the fact that Ben Santiago was waiting for Paulo Silva in the cage. But when the fight started, there was little time to think of anything else. Ben and Paulo exchanged for a few seconds, and then boom, Paulo went down. Ben Santiago took out the Brazilian with what what ruled a TKO, but was a straight up KO in my eyes. It set the tone for the rest of the night. The energy in the Arena was absolutely amazing, and the Hawaii fans began to realize that we could sweep the Brazilians.

In the next battle between Brazil and Hawaii, Anderson Silva unleashed his protege, Douglas Moura Silva. But Hawaii had an ace up the sleeve as well. We unleashed the Molokai Cowboy himself, Sale Sproat.

Moura looked like a beast, and he showed little respect to Sproat. But he would quickly find out that the Cowboy is not easily defeated. The Brazilian rushed in and tried to use his power. Though he was strong, he was not very wise with his strength. After managing Sale to the ground and throwing some hard, blocked, punches, Moura found himself on the receiving end of a few of Sproat's punches.

IMG_1382As Sale stood over his opponent, crushing him with shots, the ref had seen enough. And as Moura Silva rolled over to his back, we could all see why. His face was bloodied and broken, and his will had clearly escaped him. He wanted no more of what The Molokai Cowboy was giving. Hawaii 2, Brazil 0.

Finally the great Anderson Silva marched his last hope to the cage. Damaso Pereira came to the cage ready for war with Dustin Kimura.

Through the first round of the fight, it was clear that the striking advantage was going to Pereira. At one point he even stunned Kimura enough to make many think the fight was about to be finished. But Kimura quickly snapped Pereira to the mat and saved himself at the end of the first. As the second round began, there was a little something up Kimura's sleeve. He dumped Pereira to the mat, mounted him and began to bash him with punches and elbows. Any momentum that Pereira had in the first round was completely gone, and Kimura would take home the TKO victory for the Destiny title.

Anderson Silva's team of fighters had been defeated. All of them by TKO. Hawaii proved that we are not to be overlooked. Any questions about the ability of Hawaii fighters against foreign fighters should now be answered. Hawaii 3, Brazil 0. A great night for MMA in Hawaii. Not the best night for Anderson Silva.
