War On The Valley Isle: Tupas vs Kahilikolo E-mail
Local MMA News

By: King Eddie

Mark Tupas is nothing if not an exciting fighter. His amateur career has seen many highlight reel fights due to his ability deliver hard hits and take them as well. Through all of his battles with fighters such as Richard Barnard, Colin Mackenzie, and Arnold Berdon, there has been one major trend. . . fight of the night usually floats in his direction.

He has no lack of skills, as he trains with some of the best that Hawaii has to offer. At 808 Top Team, Tupas has the ability to roll around on the mats with fighters like Russell Doane, Harris Sarmiento, Louis Smolka, and many more. Keeping the warrior traditions of the gym alive, Tupas looks to extend his aggression into his professional career, which begins next week at the Just Scrap show on Maui.

"I never fought outside of Honolulu," said Tupas. " I heard the Maui fans sell out the shows and really support MMA. I'm going to go out there and give them a show."

Tupas will be taking on Tyler Kahilikolo, who is best known at the moment for his war with Toby Misech. In anothe recent battle, Kahilikolo took out Elijah Manners at an Up N Up showing that wow'd the O'ahu fans. Tyler is a fighter who has been in there with the best that Hawaii has to offer, and is , as of now, hitting the best stride of his career.

"I know he is my type of fighter. He's not scared of the stand up and neither am I. A lot of people don't know that I have wins by submission. He's never been submitted, and maybe this will be the first time."

No matter the circumstances, Tupas knows that he has a big opportunity in front of him as of now. The Maui fans will definitely get what they pay for as these two fighters look to take the next step. For Tupas, this is his chance to burst onto the pro scene in fantastic fashion. And for Kahilikolo, this is another strong move towards the top of the heap in this stacked division.

Be sure to catch this fight at next weeks Just Scrap at War Memorial Gym in Kahului, Maui.
