Leben and Grove Appear at UFC 116 |

Oahu tr ansplant ,Chris Leben, and Maui local Kendall Grove will appear once more in the octagon at UFC 116. The two have been pivotal in the Mixed Martial Arts here on the islands as well as staples for the UFC and it’s growing popularity. Both were contestants on different seasons of The Ultimate Fighter, and Kendal was the winner of his particular season. With aggressive and entertaining fighting styles, Leben and Grove have become some of the biggest names in the sport and each has used that power to help train other fighters here in Hawaii.
Kendall Groves fight with Croatian powerhouse, Goran Reljic, will not appear on the televised card but will be no less anticipated. Kendall is coming off of a tough but exciting loss and expects nothing less than to finish his opponent. His style has always been dangerous in all directions. His length and striking ability are deadly, and once he is on the ground he can submit opponents from every angle. Reljic, on the other hand, is very powerful in his stand up and is relentless no matter where the fight finds itself. This is a really key match up in the weight division because both have immense potential and could make a run for the title at any time. No doubt, this will be in the running for fight of the night. 
Chris Leben will be featured in the Co-Main Event of the night against Yoshihiro Akiyama and this too has a possible Fight of the Night written all over it. Though it was only weeks ago Leben stopped previously undefeated Aaron Simpson with a second round TKO, he is geared up and ready to do some damage. He believes that his chin is superior to that of Akiyama and that in a stand up war, he WILL be victorious. Though me made comments at his last post fight press conference that he was not looking to fight again soon, the UFC made him an offer that “ I couldn’t refuse”. The fan response to this replacement has shown that Leben’s status as one of the most popular in the sport has been restored and he is riding the positive waves to the next level.
Both of these fighters have helped support the MMA community here in Hawaii, and now it is time that the Hawaii MMA community supports them in return.
