MMA LEGEND Wanderlei Silva, feels that he is on the road to redemption. Wand has rededicated and found his focus once again as he has stepped in for injured Vitor Belfort to face highly touted striker, Cung Le, in Le's UFC debut.
"My motivation is back. I need to make my fans happy again. I have a lot of fans around the world. I know Saturday a lot of guys are going to have barbecue in their homes, and I know my responsibility to the millions and millions and millions of people that are going to watch that fight. I want to make my fans happy."
Silva is a veteran of 43 MMA bouts including fights in Brazil, Pride, and the UFC. He has fought legends such as Cro Cop, Rampage, Chuck Liddell, Sakuraba, Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Ricardo Arona, and many many more. Stories of the Axe Murderer will always inhabit the world of combat sports but he says he isn't finished adding to it yet. Wandy feels he is still in the game.
"More guys want to watch me fight than guys want to make me stop," Silva said. "I can't tell you anything. Just my performance can tell if I can fight or not. I just think my performance can [prove I belong] in the UFC right now."
Cung le is a talented striker who has spent his life kickboxing. He was notched several key wins in his career, but none on the scale of Wanderlei Silva. He also suffered a last second KO loss to Scott Smith in their first meeting, but nevertheless is a very dangerous opponent and Wanderlei recognizes that.
"I trained more my defense," he said. "My attack is really good, but I trained more my defense. My coach told me what I need to do, and I tried. [Le] is a professional. He's coming from kickboxing his whole life. He's a really good opponent and a dangerous opponent, of course."
Good luck this weekend to Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva, as he looks to continue his legend in the cage at UFC 139 in the Co-Main event against Cung Le.
