The UFC has announced that it will be adding a 4 man Flyweight Tournament in order to determine who the first ever UFC Flyweight Champion of the world will be. The tourny will shake down as follows. . . Demetrious Johnson faces Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez meets Yasuhiro Urushitani at March's UFC on FX 2 event.

The addition of these fights to the UFC on FX 2 event surely adds a lot of klout to the broadcast, and the addition of this new division with a Champion makes it a lot more interesting. This reporter has a feeling that the transition from almost non-existent weight class, to fan favorite weight class will be done seemlessly for the Flyweights.

There are countless competitors in this weight division that are deserving of the same spotlight as the Heavyweights, and they are about to get the call. As this division expands, I say to all of you out there who fight at 135 or 125. . . make yourself known. Put yourself out there and strike while the iron is hot. The UFC doesn't just add new weight classes all willy nilly. This is your opportunity to jump in and make a statement for yourself and for the division.
