Chad Griggs and Lavar Johnson make the transition over to the UFC after Strikeforce began its campaign to dissolve the Heavyweight Division in its own organization. These two are following in the footsteps of Strikeforce Heavyweights such as Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum.
Johnson, who fought Lolohea Mahe under the Strikeforce banner, will face Joey Beltran at UFC on Fox 2, but it is still unclear when Griggs will make his debut. Johnson dropped his last two fights, but looks to bounce back against the Mexicutionar who is also riding a losing streak after coming up short in his last against Stipe Miocic.
Griggs is mainly known for derailing the hype train that was Bobby Lashley, and also for his quick work of Valentijn Overeem, Alistairs older brother. He is a very overlooked Heavyweight who has very heavy hands and likes to throw hard leather until somebody falls down.
Though many will criticize the acquisitions, it will definitely shake the UFC's Heavyweight Division up a bit. And that is always a good thing.
