Ilima Maiava will soon be traveling to the Philippines to face his next opponent in PXC action alongside his teammate and friend, Harris Sarmiento.
Maiava suffered long layoffs and multiple fight cancellations before finally being able to fight in the Up N Up: Stand Alone event just a few short months ago, when he was victorious via KO in the very first round. Maiava's opponent will be Roy Boughton who has had recent success with a 7-2 record. Boughton has faced and defeated Murilo "Ninja" Rua, and lost a close decision to UFC and Pride veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.
"I'm just excited to get a chance to move up to another level. I'm hungry and ready to see what I got."
Maiava sounds more motivated than ever. This fight, to him, is an opportunity to prove that he is ready to take his career to the next level. All of the hours and days and weeks and months and years he has put into his training will hopefully pay off in his PXC debut.
"I try my best to stay hungry, stay positive, and stay in the gym. I'm very excited and stoked to take it to this stage and show what I can do. I've needed this fight for a while."
As always Ilima was thankful for his friends family and supporters, as well as his team, 808 Top Team. We are all waiting in anticipation to see another of our local fighters go out into the world and show what Hawaii fighters can do. Good Luck Ilima!
