Though many could care less about "The Athlete", Jason MacDonald is making, possibly his final, UFC appearance, yet again. His losing effort against Alan Belcher was supposedly his last, considering the fact that his leave of abscence for his day job, a corrections officer, was officially over. But MacDonald has decided to give it one more go.
This is the 4th try, of his second attempt in the UFC. The Canadian fighter may not be looked upon favorably by most fans, but any who feel the need to find a little inspiration to like him need only watch his fight against Demian Maia. If you are a fan of Jiu-Jitsu in MMA, then this fight is quite possibly the best fight the UFC has ever had. The absolute beauty of transitions and submission attempts in that bout were amazing. MacDonald even threatened the , then unbeaten, Maia with multiple submission attempts.
Though MacDonald is know for dropping the ball in the striking department, he is still a threat to anybody in the Octagon. "Filthy" Tom Lawlor will also be fighting for his job in this particular affair. Though the theatrical weigh-in and entrances he delivers are highly entertaining, his win percentatge is not exactly up to par with a 1-3 stint in the UFC.
Lawlor may want to try to keep this one on the feet, unless he wants to suffer his own fate from his previous fight against Chris Wiedman, in which he was choked to unconciousness.
This fight is scheduled to take place at UFC on FX 3. Though it may not be one of the most hyped or anticipated fights of the event, it may prove to be one of the most entertaining.
