UFC Institutes Sudden Death Rounds for Flyweight Tourny E-mail
National MMA News

By: King Eddie

tumblr_lw4lcyGUvW1qfq2wcThe UFC will be instituting "Sudden Death" rounds for the first ever UFC Flyweight Tournament. This is in hopes of ensuring clear cut winners in the bouts that will determine the newly crowned champion. The competitors all seem more than happy with the decision, and the fans will likely be delighted as well.

It is unlikely that the rule will need to be used, but it's always nice to know that if a draw were to happen, there would be another round to determine a clear winner. This is something that the fans have been screaming about for years. The Flyweight tourny will consist of four fighters, some of whom we already know and love.

Demitrious Johnson will face Tachi Pallace Fights Champion, Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall.
Yasuhiro Urushitani will take on WEC and UFC standout, Joseph Benavidez.

All of these fighters have made their names known at 135 lbs, and are finally getting a shot to compete at a more natural weight for them. Expect fireworks in these bouts at UFC on FX 2. Many don't believe that the "Sudden Death" rule will get it's debut after all.
