Former WEC Champ Steve Cantwell Released From UFC E-mail
National MMA News

By: King Eddie

steve-cantwell-3The UFC has finally released former WEC LHW Champ, Steve Cantwell, after 5 straight losses inside the octagon.

Nobody wants to throw extra jabs in on this guy since he's not exactly having a good day, but it's very rare that a fighter is allowed 5 failing chances to prevail in the UFC. He must have had something special for the organization infamous for cutting talent to keep him around for so long.

He hit the UFC with an impressive submission win over Razak Al-Hassan. The armbar that he sunk in was so deep that it eventually broke the arm of Al-Hassan. Fans immediately thought that Cantwell was a force to deal with. But then his downhill slide began as "The Robot" malfunctioned and went on a massive losing streak.

He first fell to Luiz Cane, then to former rival Brian Stann. He then fell to Cyrille Diabate, Mike Massenzio, and most recently Riki Fukuda. This would seal his fate with the UFC.

Nobody really understands why he was given so much time to try to gain a win. maybe it was his former Champion status. At any rate, he has officially been handed his walking papers fromt he UFC, and I'm sure everyone hopes that he finds success wherever he lands.
