Dana White Smashes Possible Superfight, Asks Griffin To Retire E-mail
National MMA News

By: King Eddie

dana-whiteDana White has been on a noteworthy spree of pointmaking in the past couple of days. As the stories continued to unfold, we held on to a few of the quotes and decided to compile them into one simple story. Everything from fighters retiring to smashing possible matchups, Dana filled the press in on pretty much everything. So here we go.

Dana wants Matt Hughes and Forrest Griffin to retire.

"Hughes is one of these guys that, I absolutely, positively want Matt Hughes to retire," White on Thursday told a small group of assembled media following a news conference for UFC on FOX 4. "What else is there to accomplish? The guy's done everything. He's been a staple in this organization for a long time. He's been (freaking) awesome. There's nothing left to prove."

"I would like Forrest to retire," White said. "There's nothing left for Forrest to prove, either. He won 'The Ultimate Fighter,' he's had an amazing career, he won the title when everyone thought he couldn't, he's made (expletive) loads of money, he's got a beautiful wife, he's got a baby."

Dana on the proposed Nick Diaz vs Anderson Silva "superfight".

"I can tell you this, not theoretically – Diaz/Anderson is not going to happen," he said. "That's just ridiculous."

"Nick Diaz makes no sense," he said. "I know that sounds fun. Yeah! Throw Nick Diaz in there! If you really look at the thing, Nick Diaz just lost to Condit at 170, so that gives him the opportunity to move up to 185 and fight the pound-for-pound best in the world? In what [expletive] universe does that make sense?"
