Matt Hamill is coming out of retirement and is headed back to the big show at UFC 152.
His opponent situation however has already underwent a change. Originally expected to meet Roger Hollett, a UFC newcomer, Hamill will now mop things up with "The Janitor". No, that doesn't mean he is cleaning up after the show, it means that he will meet the hard hitting, but over the hill Vladimir Matyushenko.
Though he was born deaf, Matt Hamill managed to win three NCAA Division III National Wrestling Titles, and compete on TUF 3 in competitive fashion. He took wins in the UFC over opponents such as Tito Ortiz, and Mark Munoz, but suffered several losses. Two of which were back to back at the end of his run, to Rampage Jackson and Alexander Gustaffson.
Vlady also recently suffered a loss to the fast rising Gustaffson, but otherwise has been on a 5-1 run. In fact, over the last stretch of his career he has gone 13-3, only losing to top competition. Not a bad record for a 41 year old slugger. Either way the matchup will be likely better than watching Matt Hamill beat up a newcomer. Matyushenko is a much tougher test.
