Eddie Yagin has been pulled from his battle with Dennis Siver in December and have been replaced by Nam Phan.
The reason behind his removal from the fight has been linked to a brain injury that recently began to effect Yagin. Swelling of the brain caused Yagin to fall ill on Saturday evening. The reports were confirmed by a representative for Yagin's Agency.
"He suffered it in sparring on Saturday," said Jason House, of Iridium Sports Agency. "The injury was not the result of a certain strike or exchange. [He] came home, had a headache, started to vomit whatever liquids he drank and then decided to go to the ER the next day."
Since Yagin's pull from the fight, the UFC has decided to replace him with Nam Phan. But there is no measure of how devastated Yagin is to have to drop from the card. He was riding much momentum after his Fight Of The Night performance against Mark Hominick.
Originally from O'ahu, and making his name known in MMA through the old Superbrawl promotoion, Eddie Yagin is a hometown hero for many here in Hawaii. His tenacity is unmatched and his dedication to the craft has spanned over 13 years.
We wish Eddie a speedy recovery and look forward to hearing his thoughts on what took place in the coming weeks.
