Randy Couture Jumps Ship E-mail
National MMA News

By: King Eddie

randy-coutureI guess the "UFC FOR LIFE" gig just isn't what Randy Couture wanted. Sources are now saying that the UFC Hall Of Famer is headed to Spike TV to take part in the first season of the Bellator reality TV series, as well as jump in on some commentary gigs.

Sure, it's not a big deal really in the MMA world. It's a good thing for Bellator, it's a questionable move for Couture, and it's a huge blow to loyalty in the sport. Dana White and other UFC execs are surely not happy with this turn of events, but the wheels are already in motion. The conclusion of Couture's deal with Fox opened the door for such an awkward offer by Spike TV and Bellator.

It is obvious that Bellator is gaining steam. And there is nothing wrong with multiple promotions on the highest level. As a matter of fact, it's great to see a little competition going on. But it is truly a shame to see Randy Couture, Captain America, Captain UFC, most loved man in MMA, jump ship after such a long time. It was the last thing that this reporter expected to say the least.

So as the Bellator brand grows on our TV's, I have a very distinct feeling that many will be muted.
