Kendall Grove claimed a much anticipated victory in the very first round of his Global Warrior Challenge bout against Danny Mitchell.
Kansas City witnessed history in the making. The rebirth of Maui's own Kendall Grove. Through the years, Grove has been evolving his game in various ways, but since rounding out his training with multiple teams across Hawaii, he looks like an entirely different monster. Once again looking happy inside the cage, Grove took out Mitchell via TKO in the very first round.
As the round began, Mitchell began to take the center of the cage. He threw a small flurry as he backed Kendall towards the fence. But as Grove used his movement and angles, Mitchell found himself being cornered. He tried to maneuver away from Grove, but to no avail.
The two continued to exchange kicks and punches as they searched for openings. After being tied up, they broke from the cage and Grove threw a kick to Mitchell's head that was blocked, but still felt. It was obvious that Mitchell was shaken and Grove went on the offensive. Firing off shots to the body and head, mixing in kicks, Grove was able to find the chance he'd been looking for. He caught Mitchell with a left and a right that put him to the canvas. Following up with a few extra punches, Grove took the fight via TKO.
" My opponent was a cool guy. I talked to him before and after. He's the same as me. He knew it was business."
Sporting red hair and a rejuvinated attitude, Grove now makes his way back into the win column. After having been hosed on a previous decision, Grove holds no grudges. He merely looks forward to future fights and further success.
" I have been fighting a lot recently. If I'm not injured, I'm gonna fight. I just came off of a decision loss to a world class fighter that I thought I won. When I'm going into fights now I tell myself, I'm never losing again. That's how it's got to be."
Grove has been fighting nearly every fight on short notice as of late but hopes that after this victory he can take some time to recover. But given the right opportunities, he would galdly walk back into the cage tomorrow.
Congratulations Kendall Grove on another spectacular victory. All of us here in Hawaii are excited to watch you represent our fighting spirit to the world.
